Concussion

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta recently expanded its Concussion Program to include tools and resources for providers. Kids Health First worked collaboratively with Children’s Concussion team and the community, by providing guidance and knowledge from the primary care perspective. The objective of the toolkit and videos is to provide education to healthcare professionals on managing concussion patients using evidence-based tools. The Concussion Toolkit contains a concussion definition, an assessment tool, the Glasgow Coma Scale, red flags, Emergency Department/CT Scan Referral Criteria, Emergency Department Algorithm, tips for cognitive rest, return to school and play guidelines and English/Spanish patient family teaching sheets. The program also includes helpful informational videos on the diagnosis and treatment of concussions and clinical scenarios.

Providers that participated obtained CME credit. For more information visit, choa.org
